Volpone – CANCELLED

Dood Paard

DUE TO PERSONAL CIRUMSTANCES OF THE COMPANY, VOLPONE BY DOOD PAARD WILL NOT BE SHOWN ON THURSDAY 31ST OF AUGUST IN BRONKS. THE CIRCUIT-X SHOW ANOTHER ONE OF NEW ARTISTS MAXIM STORMS AND LOBKE LEIRENS WILL BE SHOWN INSTEAD.

Volpone (fox), a fabulously wealthy Venetian nobleman, pretends to be dying after a lengthy sickbed in order to trick Voltore (vulture), Corbaccio (raven) and Corvino (crow). One after another they come to visit Volpone with extravagant presents in the hope of becoming his heir. Volpone’s manservant, Mosca (fly) spurs them on, promising each of them in turn a mention in his master’s will. To secure the dying man’s love, Corbaccio even goes so far as to disinherit his own son in favour of Volpone. The insanely jealous Corvino consequently offers his wife’s sexual services to heal the nobleman. Voltore, Corbaccio and Corvino fall over one another in their efforts to please and drive the sly old fox Volpone and fly Mosca to distraction. Their manipulative game with the carrion eaters makes them so megalomaniac that ultimately they betray each other and lose everything.
